Automapper a mess? |
I've decided to try and set up the automapper. I used the automatic setup and added a few #nodir triggers. However, the mapper is a mess. It goes ok for a while, but then won't recognize when you are back to a room and creats an identical room overtop. It creats "one way" rooms for no apparent reason. I spent an hour mapping an area of about 35 rooms because I had to keep deleting and relinking rooms.
My question is, what do I need to do to improve the efficiency of the mapper. Does it work very well, or is it constantly acting up for everyone?
The mud output looks as follows:
Chamber of Charity
A room where heroes send their spare equipment for the less fortunate.
All of the heat in this room seems to be escaping through the ceiling. Looking
up to see what's causing this, a drop of cold blood drips through the ceiling
and into your eye. You notice fresh drops of blood on most of the euipment
scattered across the floor. You wonder how there can be such a bloodbath
upstairs without making any sound.
Hovering above the ground is a miniscule, weightless key.
A dusty old pair of spectacles lies here. [Excellent]

Could you post a bit more output... preferably walking through 3 or 4 rooms...
It would go a long way in helping to come up with a mapping script.. One room is not enough to go on. |

The problem the mapper is having is because of these lines.

They are being picked up as part of the description. The automapper keeps a flag on links called tested. This flag is set to 1 when you actually walk through a link while mapping. When it is set to 0 the but connected to another room the mapper looks to verify the room details. If they don't match then it creates a new room and makes those 1 way exits. If it is set to 1 then no verification is done, as the mapper believe that link has already been verified.
I think you can adjust this verification by changing the match settings in the Speedwalking configuration page to room name. The other option is a series of #NOMAP triggers or a more complex set of triggers that can properly identify when to start preforming #NOMAP and then do so for each line until the exit line. Those triggers would likely have to be built around the ansi color codes that visually distinguish the text. So I would say an ansi log of walking through 3-4 rooms is needed to properly make a trigger set. |

In the center of the road, an odd sight assails you. Two of the massive
granite flagstones have been broken apart. Shovels, hammers, and other
tools lay neatly against the roadside suggesting a work crew has been
working hard. Something mighty huge must have broken these stones.

A paved road
Lanterns hang down from the trees. Small candles, inside the lanterns,
cast their warm, flickering light all around. The scene of a grand party
plays out before you. Cakes, goodies, and other sweet treats lay heaped
on tables set-up by the road, but they remain untouched.

An entrance to a small mound
To the north is a small mound that seems to have a door hidden in the
shadows. The sun does not seem able to cut through the inky, black shadows
that frame the door. One can barely make out flowers set out by the door,
but these have long since died.
Exits: north west east
A paved road
The party continues along the roadside. A wooden dance floor has been
placed in the center of the road and upon closer inspection reveals many
years of hard use. Obviously these people take their parties very
seriously.
Exits: west east
In these examples, there are no mobs or items like in the first.

Vijilante's advice still applies... The rooms with no mobs the automapper should be able to handle. The one's with mobs are where the problem lies.
