Zmud hanging during load due to a plugin |
My problem seems to stem from the meleecolors plugin. My hard drive had to be replaced, so i downloaded Zmud and used the trial version for 2 days until i found my license code (in a pile of other scribbled up post-its). While i was using the trial version, i loaded meleecolors, spinning timer and tick timer plugins. After i licensed Zmud, it would no longer load and hangs when it gets to the meleecolors initialization. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am too used to playing with Zmud and all it's helpful features to go back to telnet :)
Thanks,
Dave |

Also, i have checked to verify that the license is installed and it is, so it isn't an issue with elicense.

Try to find a line in one of the zMUD .ini files which loads that plugin, then remove the line.
WARNING Make a backup of any .ini file before modifying it! WARNING |

1. There are not too many plugins
2. And of those that exist Most plugins are Mud specific
http://www.zuggsoft.com/zmud/down.asp has a few plugins however Im not sure if all three work with the new verions of zmud (but I think they do)
Also search this forum for HTML Logger for a nice HTML logging plugin that works with any mud and can also convert saved ansi logs to html.
Also look on your muds homepage / player pages to see if anyone was written anything. |

nah, i think the only reason they even mention clients on there is so that people know how to log in easier. But there's no scripts, no plugins, not even maps.
Guess i gotta Google for it then.
I know this is prolly a stupid question, but what are plugins FOR? I mean, aren't they nothing more than the same scripts that u can import? or are they different? (goes to read up on the plugins on the help file) |

Exactly how do I accomplish this :P I've tried deleting all zmud related files and reloading but it seems i can not get rid of the back up files with the bad pointers. |

I.E open zmud.ini in notepad and find the line that loads the plugin and erase it or you can
a. delete the ini file and it will be recreated
b. uninstall zmud delete the zmud folder *back up .mud files first* and run regclean or some other registry cleaning program and then reinstall zmud |

Deleted the ini file and it recreated it with the same bad info i assume since it still will not boot up.
When I run zmud,it just hangs immediatley except for the initial load after uninstalling and deleting zmud. In that case, it loads and starts converting until it hits the meleecolors load point then hangs again. Task manager shows it not responding then zmud just shuts down without giving any error messages.
This is driving me crazy, and trying to mud with a different client is beyond annoying. |

Delete the proper registry entry here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zuggsoft\zMUD\Plugins
