GemStone 3 questions

I have two simple, newbie questions. First, I need to know how to make Zmud connect to Simutronics GemStone III... and second, I need to know how to write an autoroller for the same. I have no knowledge of how to write these things at all, so I need it broken down barney style for me.

1. Open zMUD. Click on the NEW button. Enter the Host (the URL) and Port for GemStone III. Click Connect, Offline, Edit, or Save, your choice depending on what you want to do next (probably Save).

2. Search the forum for "autoroller", you'll probably find quite a few. As you'll see, they vary considerably depending on the format the MUD uses to provide stats. That means we can't answer your question without knowing the format that GemStone III uses.

It's not that simple... they're method of logging into the game isn't the same as a normal MuD. I don't know the URL of the actual host, nor do I know the port or or even how to find out what the port is. I need help from someone uses Zmud with GS3, I know they're out there... I need one of you to tell me how you do it.

Go through the GS website like you normally would to log onto the game (don't use SGE). Pick you char, choose to play with the wizard, the wizard launches. At this point, go back to your browser window. There is a link that says "click here" if the wizard doesn't start. Right click and save this file, renaming it so that it ends in .txt

Now open the file. It has the host and port, which you use to connect in zmud. Also it has a "key", which you need to enter in twice when it says "connecting to server".

And that's it, as far as logging on goes.

As for autorollers, they won't work anymore due to GS3 changing from a roll-based system to a fixed point allocation system.

left a step out of logging on with zmud...

after you get the key but before you try to connect with zmud, you need to quit out of the wizard.

You can use the SGE to get all the info you want. Just log in like normal, when the launcher pops up hit cancel. Open notepad, open the file GSE.~xt and the IP,port, and key are in that file.
