Possible bug? Or just a Dumb operator :)

When I try to make a new trigger, first I copy text I want for the trigger, I clock NEW-Trigger, I get the small box under name with the cursor flashing in it. I hit CNTL-V topaste the text I copied and wham bam thank you mam, ALL my files are duplicated. there are now two of every trigger, alias, macro, variable (not classes). If I try the pasting again, now I have three copies.

If I use mouse and click in Name box (thus it gets bigger) then CNTL-V to paste, no problem, works as advertised.

Either way, it should not be that simple to even mess up and duplicate all your data in a heartbeat.

What version of zMUD? What OS? Can you please give an example of the trigger you are trying to build? What do you mean 'small box under name'? Do you mean the pattern box? What do you mean the box gets bigger if you click in it? Whenever I click in the Pattern box, it neither shrinks nor grows. I'm puzzled. Could you possibly get a screen shot of the before and after effect of clicking in the 'Name' box?

zmud 6.16

Win 98

I can do it making ANY trigger

example (just did this to test again)

I coppied text from mud (via highlight with mouse, and hit CNTL-C) "Lancelot say Hi to you."

I click Triggers Button on top tool bar to open triggers window.

I click down arrow next to new, select trigger

new window open, under the column Name a small box open with a flashing cursor.

If at this point I hit CNTL-V to paste the text, my data get duplicated instead.

If I click just tothe right of the box, but outside of it, the Box expands to a wider box. If I CNTL-V now, it works all fine and dandy.

Sure on screen shot under one condition, how?

OK got the screen shot, but can't paste it here or in Email to you via here, send me Email with your real email? other idea?

All I can think is some how you "copied"
the root settings and when you paste,
the paste action is hitting the editor window
and not the trigger edit window. This would
cause the copy to be of the form of the copied
triggers and not text that you copied.

Try doing this:

1. Click on the trigger button to bring up the Settings Editor.
2. Double-click on any existing trigger, an editing window should come up.
3. Dock that window to your Settings Editor by dragging it to the bottom of the Settings Editor. It should try to automatically dock. If it doesn't try holding down the <alt> key when you're dragging the window to the Settings Editor.
4. Once you have it docked, close the Settings Editor.
5. Click on the trigger button to bring up the Settings Editor. You should now see 2 parts, the main Settings Editor window and the Editing windows docked below it. Now click on new->new trigger. The focus should now be on the bottom window. Your settings should hopefully stop doubling.

Let us know how it goes. If you want to send me that picture, just click on the 'Email poster' button and copy the email listed there into your favorite email program. Then send the pic as an attachment and I'll try to host it for everyone to see.
