Problem with licence. |
Hi,
My friend has got a problem - he is trying to play MUDs at work (I know he shouldn't be it is not me who pays him so I don't care :P). He can't install any programs on his pc at work so he tried to play with zMud installed on pendrive. Everything is ok when he is using ver. 6.62 but ver. 7.13 is trying to load licence to folder which don't exists on pc (I suppose it is one of system folder but don't know details). My friend doesn't want to use ver 6.62 as some of his scripts are requiring ver 7.13 or higher. Can someone help him solve that problem? (He can't rewrite scripts to ver. 6.62 as he doesn't know much about scripting and no one wants help him with that ;)). |

The license format changed in one of the latter versions of zMUD. However, zMUD has always needed to be installed on a computer in order to use it without complications. Or at least, as far as I can remember. Some of the much earlier versions may have not needed it. So in short, your friend shoulsnt have been able to use it on the computer registered unless that computer had already zMUD installed. Now, what can be done is installing it to a pendrive, but entering in license info on that computer, but that's about the only way.

I suppose he can't enter in anything on pc at work - as i've mentioned he can't install anything and he hasn't got physically licence's destination folder on disk. In FAQ i've found information about zMud which is not limited to 3 pc - does it then load any information about licence on pc or not?

Any newer version of zMUD will need to have the ability to store license info on the computer. You can use the old 3.xx version from here or the 4.62 version that can be downloaded many places from a pen drive or other such media (zip disks, jazz, etc etc...) I've a friend who uses 4.62 from an SD or XD ( I forget which ) memory card at his job since the only port he can add anything too is USB so he has a USB Memory Card reader ;)
