Importing 2.22 package back into 2.22... |
So, I saved my package in CMUD 2.22 to another harddrive. Had to reformat my primary. Re-installed CMUD. Tried to import the package. I have child windows, ie capture windows and when I try to connect, every single window connects to the same mud. So, got rid of it, and tried it again. Now, I can't even get the package to import. How do I import a cmud 2.22 package back into cmud 2.22 and keep the other windows from connecting to the mud?
*edit*
Scratch that. This version is really messed up. When I try to dock a window, I can't now because all my dock points are in the upper left hand corner, instead of the middle of the windows. I think I just need to find another mud client now. |

If you're not willing to try and solve these problems, you probably shouldn't be using the beta version, that's for sure. Use CMUD 2.18 until the new public version.
Anyway, it sounds like you've got a few different problems going on. For the docking problem, try forcing CMUD to load a new layout (hold shift and click the Open Offline option). For the package problem, we're going to need more info. How exactly did you make the copy of the package? How are you adding it to the new installation? How did you get rid of it in the new installation? We can't tell you the proper way to get your settings back into CMUD unless we know how they're set up. |

If you email me your *.XML file, then I can try to import it here to see what it does.
As Fang said, it sounds like your docking layout is corrupted, so holding Shift when opening your session should fix it. Docking works fine for me here though. |

I don't have an .xml. It's saved as a package file. But, I installed 2.18, got it to import. Problem I got now is the layout doesn't save. Have to redo the windows everytime I log in. But, now, don't know what I did, it says the package is marked as 'read only'. Force save isn't working. Tried to install 2.22 beta over it, for the save layout feature, but the package is still marked as 'read only'. How do I fix that?

First, do NOT install older versions on top of newer versions. For example, don't install 2.18 into the same directory as 2.22. Old versions do not necessarily read the files created by the new version, so you can end up with all sorts of weird errors if you do this. You should only install newer versions on top of older versions. To restore an old version, keep a backup and completely replace the entire directory.
Once a package is marked as "read only", then it gets stored that way in the PKG file. You need to go into the Settings Editor and click the Package Properties button next to the drop-down list of packages in the toolbar. You'll see a "Read Only" checkbox at the bottom of the properties for the package. Uncheck it and click Save.
I'm not sure how you were trying to "import" a package if you didn't have an XML file. Sounds like you need to post the exact procedure you were using that was causing the original problem. |
