help with 6.40 prompt problem please

hey, I just upgraded to version 6.40 and i have this problem with my prompt being separated from commands and room names, etc. it puts the prompt on a new line and makes everything very spammy. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this please? this is what it looked like before:

HP:230 EP:230 The Plains(e, s, w and n)
HP:230 EP:230 The Plains(e, s, w and n)
HP:230 EP:230 The Plains(e, s, w and n)

and now:

The Plains(e, s, w and n)
HP:230 EP:230
The Plains(e, s, w and n)
HP:230 EP:230
The Plains(e, s, w and n)
HP:230 EP:230

I was told to check here but I couldn't find an answer to my problem, so please forgive me if this has already been asked and solved. I just want to get back to how it was before, on one line :) thanks

This is most likely because your MUD sends an end-of-record at the end of its prompts. zMUD 6.40 (in contrast with earlier versions) defaults to handling this as a newline but you can fairly easily disable this option. Click on the Prefs button then the + next to General, then Emulation and uncheck Use GA/EOR for prompt.

That should make it work the way it used to for you.

Thank you very much. This helped a lot for travelling fast on aliases and stuff, but not just when doing commands manually. Still it's a big help, and I'm happy if this is the best I can get it. Based on your desciption of how the new version of zmud handles this, it seems like it would work all the time though. I always thought the prompt was the first thing to show up on a line, but now it shows up after the command/room name. for example now if i do an alias there will be one left over prompt at the end, like this:

HP:230 EP:219 The Plains(e, s, w and n)
HP:230 EP:219 The Plains(e, s, w and n)
HP:230 EP:219 The Plains(e, s, w and n)
HP:230 EP:219 The Plains(e, s, w and n)
HP:230 EP:219

seems kind of weird, also before your suggestion the prompt was showing up after the command also instead of before. If you know anything else about how to fix this further, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Perhaps the MUD is sending the telnet options incorrectly. Enter this command into the command line:
#DEBUG test.txt trace.txt

and make the MUD produce the output that is incorrect. Then send the trace.txt file to Zugg at zugg@zuggsoft.com and explain to him what the problem is. Also, he is away for Christmas, but he should answer you shortly after he gets back.

Strange that some people prefer it how it's not supposed to be :) Hohum, cant please all of the people all of the time..

Just out of interest, which mud was that?

When i enter #DEBUG test.txt trace.txt I don't see anything happening. I'm probably doing something stupid, but I don't know where to find the trace.txt file if this is something the results are stored in :)

This is The Two Towers mud.
If how it is now is correct then yeah, I much prefer how it was for the past 6 years without so much spam :P

The file is created in your zMUD directory.

Ok I got the trace.txt file and emailed zugg in detail about what's going on. Thank you guys for your help on this. I really appreciate it. If anything comes of this I'll post again with updates, since I think a lot of people on my MUD are experiencing the same problem.
