sending an alias to another window

I have buttons on one of my capture windows, but would like the alias that it is assigned to work in the main window when clicked. The work around i found was to use the #window command that sends a string to my main window. A trigger which looks for that particular string fires off the alias in the main window. Although this works i was wondering if there was a neater way. Is there a command that sends info to the main window which recognises that it is an alias?

You can preface a command with
:windowname:whatever command you want to send

to send it to a different window.....
More info can be found in the helpfile under "Multiplaying"

That's kinda what I figured, and why I left out my normal sarcastic comment. *snicker*
