Relational Directions

How do I map an area where the exit names change depending on the direction from which you enter the room? The most common exits are usually right, left, forward, backward.

An example: I enter the living room of a house and the exits are right, forward-right and backward. Backward would take me outside, forward-right to the kitchen, right to the bedroom.

When go forward-right into the kitchen, the only exit is backward to return to the living room. When I go backward from the kitchen the exit directions in the livingroom have changed to left, forward-left and backward. Backward now takes me to the kitchen, left to the bedroom, and forward-left to outside.

Thanks

Probably by hand. See "Editing Your Map" in the helpfile section "Introduction to Mapping".
You might want to make a log of your exploration so you can do this offline.

I would suggest making the map based on some place with a cardinal direction orientation then using the room script field in rooms to detect and correct for the relative directions. Then you have to program your macros to be aware of the room script, but that is pretty short.
