[3.16b] Move rooms to zone |
I tried that for the first time with the new mapper and results were not good. Seems links are moved but rooms dissappear. Since there is no "undo" (can we have it please?) I lost all the rooms I tried moving.
EDIT: I also seem to have problems deleting the old zone I was moving from now. Option is greyed out...
EDIT2: Ok, after closing CMUD and opening again the rooms that had dissappered got back somehow. Not sure if it's related to another problem I have with some setting giving problems mapping. Am I the only one experiencing strange behavior from the mapper? |

Pretty much yes. The mapper is a pretty solid piece of work, and has been for some time now. Basically any real problems happening to you are most likely caused by bad data and your situation will never improve until that bad data is found and fixed:
1)export each of your packages
a)open the session in offline mode (or disconnect if you're currently online)
b)turn off parsing and triggers (you don't want stuff executing when you're deleting files and stuff)
c)do the export to create the XML file
d)close any window associated with the current package you are about to fix
e)on that package's tab, right click and choose Remove Tab
f)in whatever manner you see fit, delete your existing .pkg file you just removed the tab for (an easy way to do this is to click on File|Open Package... then rightclick on the package file and do the delete there)
g)choose File|New Package (since your old file is gone, you can now name it the same as before)
h)import the XML file to refill your new package with the old windows/triggers/etc
i)repeat steps c-h for all packages associated with your session
2)reset your layout
a)close your session
b)while holding down the SHIFT button, open your session in offline mode
c)rearrange and reappear the windows as desired
d)click Layout|Save Session Layout menu to force the layout to save.
3)send your map through the MapConvert.exe utility to both fix corruption problems in your mapfile and to fix definition issues that might lead to things like invisible rooms
4)upgrade to 3.17 (it fixes a map-definition issue, but won't fix anything in existing maps)
If all of this doesn't fix your problems with the mapper, it's either a simple matter of adjusting your scripts or some part of the CMud core got damaged and is still affecting your now-fixed session data. A simple uninstall, deleting the leftover program files stuff, and reinstall should fix this, but if your sessions database is preserved and the damage is in those files you may need to delete those files and rebuild your sessions. |

You MUST upgrade to v3.17. The 3.16 version had a bug that would cause the problem you are describing. You can actually use the 1.3 version of the MapConvert program (stickied in this forum) to "Repair" your existing map file and that will make the rooms that you moved re-appear.
