[MapConv]doofus errors (harmless stuff that should be better handled before GO) |
1)duplicate filenames
When you select a filename to convert, the utility automatically fills in the destination fields with the info based on the destination format (ie, same filename with the dropdown-determined extension, same file location). On the destination side, two labels appear below the textboxes that seem to indicate the tasks involved:
backup existing file
create new file
In the case where you are converting to the same format, if you then press GO without changing to a unique filename it brings up an SQLError popup box:
SQL Error: table IconTbl already exists, with the CREATE TABLE SQL statement on the line below that
CREATE TABLE IconTbl [IconId] INTEGER, [Bitmap] BLOB, [Filename] VARCHAR(255), [UID1] INTEGER DEFAULT 0,[UID2] INTEGER DEFAULT 0, [UserID] INTEGER DEFAULT 0,[Modified] TIMESTAMP
It's not checking for duplicate names, and tries to go ahead with the file creation by attempting the write to the existing file.
2)no from file selected
If you don't choose a file to convert, the converter goes through the motions of converting anyways. Harmless because nothing's being done, but should be checked for and handled. Probably should also not tell the user that the conversion was successful.
3)no destination filename or destination path
Ok, so you choose a file to convert and obviously the utility then fills in the destination fields. For some reason, you then blank the destination name/path fields and press GO. This brings up a "strange" error box from the MapConvert errorhandler with the phrase "Database already exists". Which database is being referred to?
All of this was just in "safe mode" playing around with copies of my real mapfiles, next up is seeing what broke (if anything) when the file is used within CMud and then ZMapper. |

4) doubled paths
1)find a map file to convert
2)change the PATH of where you want to save the new file
i end up with a path like d:\games\c:\users\......
If you click convert you get a funny sql error |

Confirmed Matt's issues and added them to the list. I was actually already aware of stuff like that and released MapConvert early mainly to test the actually functionality.
Wyrm: I couldn't reproduce this, but I'm not sure exactly how you are changing the path. I selected a file in the Source to convert, then edited the path in the Destination and didn't see the problem. Can you give me a step-by-step? |

1) launch converter program
2) on the source pane, click browse, locate a map click open
3) on the destination pane, click browse, move to a new folder, click open
Clicking on the favorites tab or browsing to the folder makes no difference. I'm not selecting a file in the Destination pane but just selecting a folder. and lastly this is on vista. |

Ahh, I see that now. I wasn't clicking the Browse button in the destination pane, I was just changing the path manually. Added to bug list, thanks.
