[3.08] update main icon with status option |
i got several tabbed windows and a main window, i want the little green thing to come on when something is entered in the main window, so i go to the main window preferences and then window option and select it, then i go to my tabbed window preferences and windows options and unclick it and save, but it seems changing this for one window, changes it for all of them, any suggestions?

I see the behavior you're referring to. I may be wrong but I thought that's how it was designed. Granted I never played around with it much, but I that the status notifications were a global property. Then again the bring to front is not a global property, so it's not unreasonable that the update main icon wouldn't be a global property.
Confirmed noted behavior. |

well the problem im having, is that to get the notification thing cleared, i have to click on every single tabbed window to bring it to the front before the icon goes back yellow, which is a hassle considering how many tabs i have, in other words, my icon is always green and was trying to find a way to fix it, but i guess i will just have to deal with it, thanks for the reply

Tech is correct that this is the designed behavior. The icon for the main application is a global combination of all window status. If *any* window has received new text and the "update main icon with status" is enabled, then the main icon will show the green icon indicating new text.
Now, I can see what you want to do and I think it's probably a good idea to make this option specific to each window rather than global, so I'll add that to the to-do list for the future. |
