[3.08] Spell check in Editor locks up

The spell check in the editor window seems to be unreliable...
If I don't select anything in the window, and go to Tools/Spell Check, it says "The spelling check is complete." without detecting any bad spellings that might be there.. (This may be only if I do it on captured, and not typed, text)
There doesn't seem to be a way of closing/clearing the first file/tab in the editor.. If I try to close it, even after opening a second tab, nothing happens..
Worst thing though, it often locks up cMUD completely after running the spell check.

The editor will always have at least one tab open. The default blank tab is for using the #CAPTURE command in CMUD to send text to the editor window. It is not associated with any file. A future version of CMUD will save/restore the text from the default tab so you can also use it for MUD notes.

I cannot reproduce any problems with the spellchecker. I just tried it and it properly identified the misspellings. Post the exact text that you are having trouble with so we can try it here.

Also let us know what version of Windows you are using and whether you are using any non-English or other custom dictionaries.

Ok.. But I think there should be a way to reset/clear the text..

I've found part of the problem with the spellcheck.. If the cursor is in the command line of the main window, and not in the editor window, the spell check menu in the editor checks the command line spelling and not the editor contents..
But, I just clicked in the editor window to put the cursor there, selected spell check, and now it has locked up.
XP SP3, and no custom or non-English dictionaries.. Seems to happen with any text, I just tried the login prompt from Aetolia as an experiment, and it locked up after finding a couple of unknown words...

I just made a fresh cmud install, captured the Materia Magica login prompt to the editor window, checked the spelling there, and after finding the unknown words, it locked up then too.. Hmm..

To clear all of the text in an editor tab, just use Ctrl-A (Select All) and press the Delete key. Easy enough.

I confirmed the bug where selecting spellcheck from the Editor window while the command line has focus does the spellcheck on the command line instead of the editor and have added that to the bug list.

But I still cannot reproduce any crashes or lockups with the spellchecker. At least not with any of the text I have tried, including the MUD prompt. So I'm not sure what is different on your computer. I tested this on both Vista and XP SP3 without any lockup.

Can anyone else find a way to reproduce a lockup? Maybe it only happens when you are online and your scripts are running in the background?
