Combat timer creation help needed

I have a problem creating special timer for combat rounds
In our mud time between each combat round is 4,5 secs
I'm trying to create a small window on my status bar with this 4,5sec ticker synchronizing with special event like:

mud client capturing this string "The moss eater massacres Restive...." and start counting 4,5 secs, stop capturing same lines and resync only on special comand

Anyone is able to help me with it or can give some advice please?

Thanks in advance

A loop is a very bad idea, and is going to cause you problems. You're going to want to use an alarm that repeats every 4.5 seconds, and you can then use the %alarm function to change the time left and to return the current time left.
