Setting Editor Glitches

I am having several problems with the Settings Editor and a couple other issues...

First problem, the editor hides the Tree of Classes and the alias/var/trigg/etc.. in them...so I can not find them to edit them. I have been unable to fix this problem, without closing the whole program and even that doesn't work sometimes...I found a thread on the forum that had a possible fix...it worked at that point...but I cant' say if it will stay working...

Second problem, when I would try to click on New "whatever" to make new scripts, it sends me to the main window in the tree, that all the other classes are under. The above mentioned fix didn't help here, cause it did it right after I attempted the fix. Which was to delete the settings files.

Third problem, at some point or another, one of my classes has disappeared...where I kept all my buttons...they are still there, and function normally, but I cant' access them in the main tree...weird...cause all the others, it seems, are there. Just this one class is missing.

Sorry if I am reposting any problems...I did a quick search for things involving packages and only saw one involving the first one, which I mentioned....Thank you for any help provided...

First, please ALWAYS mention the version of CMUD you are using, and also the Version of Windows you are using. Since this doesn't sound like it pertains specifically to the current Beta version of CMUD, I am moving this post out of the Beta Forum and putting it into the main CMUD Discussion Forum. Please only post into the CMUD Beta forum if you are using the latest 3.x beta version of CMUD.

1) On your first problem, I don't quite understand what you are saying. If the editor is not displaying the tree-view on the left side of the window, then use the Reset Layout to default menu option to go back to the default layout.

2) Sounds like your settings file might be corrupted. Normally using the "New" button will create the setting in whatever class you have currently selected in the tree view on the left. If that isn't working, then try exporting your settings via the File/Export All to an *.XML file. Then restart CMUD and click the Edit Session action and go to the File tab and change the name of your primary settings package to something new. Then open the new session Offline, go into the Settings Editor and use the File/Import to import the previously saved *.XML file.

3) This might also be related to a corrupted settings file. You can also try using the Ctrl-F Find command to search for your class in case it is buried within some other subfolder somewhere.

About 1) : Does the Editor hide the tree panel itself or just keep it (the tree) empty? In the second case, if you click on the XML tab in the Editor, will you see all your settings in place?

I just had my tree disappear again....*sighs* I will try deleting the setting files again....here is a picture so you know exactly what I am talking about...This is the most prevalent problem it seems, and certainly the most annoying...Thanks again for the help.

I need to know more about how you got it into that state. Your editor is showing that only Aliases are being displayed (because the Alias filter button in the left toolbar is selected), and yet it shows that you are editing a Window and not an Alias.

If you select the Refresh option from the View menu, does the tree reappear? Also, make sure the AutoUpdate option in the View menu is turned on.

Otherwise, it does seem your settings might be corrupted. There were bugs in some older versions that might cause that, but it shouldn't be happening anymore in v2.37. So after you reimport your settings, let us know if it start happening again.

When my tree disappeared, I clicked on random buttons on the left, to see if switching around would make any changes, it did nothing. i didn't try the refresh, but will be sure to try it next time it happens. I also, just uninstalled, wiped everything away and started from scratch, with an old exported XML file...will inform if that affects anything...I will check the auto update thing as well. Thanks for the help.
