Easy Session ID's Tutorial - zMUD 5.55 and Up! Also has seperate settings files. |
Ok, I'm hoping Zugg will sticky this, as it is something that is asked ALL the time.
This will set up your characters in zMUD to use their name as a session ID and to have unique settings folder and files. Follow these steps exactly for versions v5.55 and above. I will post a tutorial for v4.62 later, as well as one for CMUD.
Click Characters
Click New
Choose the mud from the list, or alternatively put it in manually
Click Edit
Change the Title, Caption, and Session ID fields ALL to the name of your character.
Click Save
Now Connect using that (make one for each character) and you should be able to fully utilize session IDs and all the things it provides.
Try it, sit on one character (ie. I'm on Erian) and send a command to another window using session ID, like this:
:saerith:chat Hi!
Will make Saerith perform that command.
And remember, :chat Hi! will make ALL open windows perform that chat. |

Bumping this since I've had 4 or 5 people ask me for it recently and it is buried WAY deep into the past stuff.
Would still be nice if it got stickied ;) |

Trouble is that there're already too many stickies in the forum, and making another one just to answer one specific question will mean we'll end up with tons of them. That's why I made an FAQ thread in the CMUD forum. Your best bet is either to remember the title of the thread so they can search for it easily, or bookmark it for easy linking.

Fair enough ;)
Or perhaps reply to the FAQs in this forum with a link to this topic...? |
