CMUD and ZMapper |
I tried using ZMapper with my CMUD 2.25 and it came back with a message saying that I need ZMapper version 1.5 or later. But my version is 1.3 and there is no version 1.5 in the Zuggsoft store. Am I missing something?
EDIT: I also noticed that the PLUGIN menu is gone, but I am under the impression that it was there in CMUD 1.34 because I was working on writing a COM object and I loaded it in for testing using that menu. I could be wrong, though. |

I don't think the message is saying that you need "zMapper" 1.5 or later, I think it is probably saying that you need "ADO" 1.5 or later. But you should give the *exact* error message that you are getting or post a screen shot that shows it.
As you said, there isn't any 1.5 version of zMapper. The latest version is 1.3. But when you run zMapper, it checks the Microsoft MDAC/ADO database drivers on your system and will give an error message if you don't have the correct version. So also let us know what version of Windows you are using.
CMUD doesn't have any plugin menu because zMUD plugins do not work in CMUD. So there isn't any way you could have used that menu to test a COM object, nor does CMUD load any COM plugins at all. There is special code in CMUD to load zMapper however, so zMapper still works. This is because zMapper isn't a true plugin and has special communication between zMapper and CMUD/zMUD. Also, there is some code shared between zMapper and CMUD to handle the mapper display. |

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.
The error message is as follows:
Error loading zMapper
Must have zMapper v1.15 or later installed
This means, of course, that I misread the message the first time.
However, I do have zMapper v1.3 installed. It's been there since the zMUD 7.21 days.
EDIT: I removed and re-installed zMapper. Now when I click on the icon to load it I get the following error messsage:
Error: Access violation at 0x76E59AB2 (tried to write to 0x00030FB4), program terminated.
and I am wondering if zMapper should be installed away from Program Files?
EDIT: No, I re-installed it in a user directory and got the same error. However, when I tried to run it stand-alone, it "remembered" the map that was loaded in CMUD and it loaded it successfully. So it seems that it will run fine off-line. (It did display an error message during the off-line load of the map. It said: Error loading map xxxx). Well, "fine" is relative term. |

Yes, zMapper doesn't support Vista properly, so it isn't going to work if you have it installed in the Program Files. Try installing zMapper to it's own directory (like C:\zMapper). You also might need to right-click on CMUD and select "Run As Admin". This kind of stuff will be fixed when the new cMapper is written to work better with CMUD.
