[2.18] Duplicate "All" tabs in settings editor |
I recently opened my cmud and found that I had multiple copies of a set of settings I usually use. This is after I've had some problems with sessions storing the wrong character name (but that's another post) and I've been trying to learn how to set things up for multiple characters. Anyway, I don't think I made any changes that would cause this, but now I have a bunch more windows than I want, and in my settings editor, I have three "all" tabs, each that have a different window which is normally in my one main all tab. Heres a screen shot
You can see there are multiple quest and tell windows, which I don't want. I'm becoming concerned that i may have a corrupt .pkg file, so I've created multiple copies of it (renamed from the one that I want tho), I'm wondering if it isn't picking up on the extra copies in the directory somehow...? Also, I'm kinda scared of deleting one of the "All" tabs as I get a popup saying "cannot delete package containing currently active window" I don't want to delete any package, I just don't want the extra all tabs there. help plz.
btw if any of yall are ever in northern wisconsin, I owe you a beer! |

If you do have a corrupt .pkg file, you should try exporting it to XML and then reimporting it. You might want to inspect the XML first, though - since you now have mulitple windows with the same name, you'll probably want to delete one of the entries.
Keep a copy of the naffed file around even if this fixes it - sending it to Zugg might be helpful in seeing what bugs (if any) are causing this. |

I was thinking about this and wondering, where is fact that a particular session should open a certain set of .pkg files kept? I would think it's in the sessions files... If I'm having trouble with my sessions files (Which I previously posted) not storing the right login name with the right session, could it also maybe be storing (corrupting) the info of which packages to open with the session? From the other post http://forums.zuggsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29402 Fang indicates the sessions.db stores "everything else" about the session.
It seems to me maybe my sessions.db and/or sessionkeys.db file(s) is/are corrupt. If I were to rename the existing ones and start cmud, I'd expect cmud would prompt me to create all new sessions as all that info would be gone, then it would recreate a new sessions.db and sessionkeys.db files. Does this sound correct, or would starting cmud without a sessions.db and sessionkeys.db file implode the universe? |

Removing sessions.db and sessionkeys.db works just fine.

Well, I renamed the session.db and sessionkeys.db files, cmud opened as expected. I created a new session for my mud and one of my chars, using my fox.pkg package, which is a common package for all of my characters that I play on Foxmud. The session opened just fine, and when it did, I only had the one main foxmud window, one tell, and one quest window as I'm supposed to. However, I then quit, closed cmud (without making any changes to the package) and when I re-opened everything, I had two "all" tabs, two tell windows, and two quest windows. maybe something within the package is creating the extra windows. I've always used #cap and #gag to capture gossip to my tell window and then gag it from the main window with the #gag. Maybe the #cap is creating a new window when it fires for some reason.
