I'm hiding the script Language selection in 1.19 |
OK, I'm taking a new approach for the upcoming public release. I'm going to hide "features" that are not implemented yet.
For example, I haven't had time to implement the alternate scripting language stuff in CMUD. So I'm going to hide the script language selection box in the settings editor until after the public release when I get a chance to get it working properly.
Yeah, I know, it's cheating. But then I won't get a bunch of bug reports about something that isn't working yet. |

I don't think it's cheating. Really, it'd be best to have it there but have a big sign over it saying NOT AVAILABLE YET. Hiding it serves the same purpose but doesn't make people go "Ooh, that'll be useful when it's in"

Yeah, but the 'NOT YET AVAILABLE' tags will put it in people's minds that it isn't a complete product and it is half-done... which it kind of is, but not in the way they'd be thinking.

Well, it'll NEVER be complete in that sense. I'm sure there'll always be something to add. In the same way, saying that hiding them is cheating is like saying that if you don't make a list, right now, of everything that's going to be in CMUD ever and tell people all about it, then you're cheating.
