[1.06] Strange Problem |
I connect to a mud, change my default colors and font, everything is fine....
quit the MUD, close the session, reconnect and my session is in a little window in the middle of my screen, i cant change the size of the window, the main window is named as it should be, but the window in the middle of the screen, is named a new session i created from the new session menu... session loaded also has reset to the default, and new session isnt saved. Kinda hard for me to explain Want more info and ill send a screen shot...
Also the default ansi colours are reversed to those of Zmud, not a problem... just an observation |

Yeah, something happened with the colors. I thought I had changed them to be correct (colors 1-7 dim, 8-15 bright), but somehow they got messed up again. Maybe the default.pkg file isn't being updated properly or something. In any case, there seems to be a problem with the preferences again and it's on the bug list.
On the session issue, I'm going to need more step-by-step details on how to reproduce this. Did you create the new session while the previous session was open? And was it really a "new session" or was it a "New Connection" (from the File menu)? Make sure you have your terms exact right or else it's very confusing to debug. The New Session command is in the session selection window. The New Connection is in the File menu of the main window. |

I reported both these issues via the bug tracker - the session starting undocked as a small window was what prompted me to first delete the cmud.xly file then fully reinstall to a fresh directory. I think it must have been something with the upgrade from 1.05 to 1.06.

Uninstalling won't help. You would actually need to delete your CMUD folder. Uninstalling doesn't delete a lot of user-created files, and might not be deleting the CMUD.XLY file. As Rainchild mentioned, he had to manually delete the CMUD.XLY file and then reinstall to restore the default. CMUD doesn't work very well right now with a bad CMUD.XLY file.

Rainchild: I'm actually totally perplexed by the issue with the small undocked session window. I verified today that the installer *does* competely overwrite the CMUD.XLY default layout file. So I have no idea how your layout file might have gotten messed up. If you come across any more information on how this might have happened, let me know.

I think in true Rainchild fashion I didn't back up my 1.05 directory before installing 1.06 since I didn't really have any settings in there I cared about, but I've still got the 1.05 installer kicking about so I might try and install it and upgrade to 1.06 and see if anything unusual happens again. :)

ok on further testing, the problem seems to occur when you try to connect more than 1 session of the same name.
i was connected to two different muds, somehow they managed to get into the same package, tried to make a new connection to a mud i was co nnected to, and it took over the window of the other mud i was connected to.
closed cmud down, re-opened, tried to connect to the first mud again and the small undocked window appeared in the middle of the screen. This only happened after i attempted to make a connection to a different mud.
strange indeed :) ahh well..... |

Yes, there was another thread about this. You cannot connect to the same session twice. This causes both sessions to write to the same files, which causes all sorts of problems and file corruption. I'll probably change 1.07 so that it doesn't let you open a duplicate session.
When you want to create another window with the same network connection, use the Session toolbar button pulldown menu and select the Host/Port in the bottom half of the list. Just remember that a "Session" is a combination of network connection, packages, character login, and screen layout. What it sounds like you wanted was just another window with another network connection and you don't need to load a whole new session for that. |

I think i can reproduce this..
starting with a clean install (fully deleted cmud directory)
starting from sessions dialog...
1) button "new session"
name:testa
host:test
port: 4200
2)button: "Save and close"
3) button "new session"
name:testb
host:test
port: 4200
4)button: "Save and close"
5)open session testa offline (testa will open correctly)
6) crtl-o
7) open session testb offline (testb will open in a small floating winodw)

Not sure if this is exactly what caused Rainchild's problem, but I reproduced makena's method.

OK, found the problem causing this, and possibly Rainchild's problem as well.
Although keep in mind that since CMUD saves the docking layout in the *.XLY files, you might have to delete the TESTA.XLY and TESTB.XLY files to see it work in 1.07, otherwise 1.07 will just load the wrong layout saved by 1.06. I'll eventually make it easier to control whether layouts get saved or loaded automatically, but for now just deleting the *.XLY file will work.
Just be sure to not delete the main CMUD.XLY file since CMUD won't work properly without that, and CMUD has no way right now to recreate that file itself. |
