[1.06] Adding a package to a session |
In the sessions window, when I select a session and go to "Edit Session" then "Files", and attempt to add a package to the session, it opens up the browse window but no package or mud files are visible in any folders to add.
The only work around I've found is when you're already in the session, if you select file>new package and then file>open the package that you want to use, and copy all of the settings from the opened package into the "new" package, the new package will be listed on the session package files. |

When you click the + button to add a package, it should be setting the default directory to the Packages subdirectory of your CMUD installation directory. It should show any *.pkg file, and the installer should have already put the EnglishDirections.pkg and EnglishKeypad.pkg files into that directory.
So, I can't reproduce any problem with this. Try posting a screen shot of what it shows on your computer when you click the + button. |

It does open up the file selection browse window to the default "packages" folder - my problem is that you (well at least I) cannot see any .pkg or .mud files, even when click around to other folders where I know .pkg files are, I cannot see any files TO select.

Like I said, I'll need a screenshot. If you select "All Files" from the drop-down list at the bottom, does it show you all of the files? It's just doing a directory listing, and I've never seen that openfile dialog fail like you described. Might also be good to mention if you are using any non-standard Themes or something. But try poking around to see if you can get any other information on this because I can't get it to fail at all on any of my computers here.

it isnt "AUTOSAVING" the pkg files. HOwever if you save them it works ok. I also found out that it is removed from the drop down list of packages if its added into the "DEFAULT" setup in settings packages. I dont really like that.

edb, you should make a new thread for your post. It sounds like you are talking about different issues than the Browse problem that Rugbystyle is reporting. Let's try to keep threads on a single topic.

I have the same issue, clean install or not. When the box opens it show NO files, but if you click on the all files form the drop-downlist at the bottom, it shows them all (*.pkg or *.mud). Its been like this for the last two versions. screen shots below
after clicking "+"
after clicking in the drop-down

Ahh, that's interesting. I think I know what the problem is!
Back in the Windows file Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select Folder Options. Go to the View tab and scroll down to find the "Hide Extensions of known file types" and turn that option OFF.
I'll take a look at the code behind the OpenDialog box and see if I can fix this, but right now it depends upon the file extension being visible so that it can determine if something is a *.pkg file |

MY OPINION/ADVICE
it isnt "AUTOSAVING" the pkg files <-- why they dont show when you create them. AND IN ADDITION (You may not want to add them as default because they disappear when you do from your settings list)
That was my problem. With the same problem as he was having. I cant see any of my packages there but as soon as i save them manually they are there. maybe im just screwed up. In the end i was giving him advice as to his problem and why he may not want to add them as defaults quite yet. Cause the next post will be MY PKG FILE ISNT IN MY DROPDOWN LIST OF PACKAGES I CAN EDIT.
As such there is already a topic and bug report submitted on the other but my post was 100% regarding HIS topic from a point of view of similar results and different causes that included a warning about the possible ramifications of what he was attempting to do so that he was informed of the situation before it happened. This is called prevention. |

ok, fine, you might have thought it had something to do with it. It doesn't though. My solution to his problem is shown in my previous reply and has nothing to do with the issue of new packages not being created/saved properly.
