#IMAGE stops working. |
Yet another problem now... For no apparent reason my #IM windows are no longer working properly.
I have four different triggers set to display one of four image files that are in the zMud directory to alert me to certain events on mud. They have been doing this now for about two weeks, and they are used multiple times daily.
All of a sudden, any #IM window that pops up is extremely small. Usually, even with a wrong filename, the image window would be of moderate size although blank. Only the tiniest sliver of white can be seen now below the title bar. I've maximized, enlarged it, scrolled the entire screen, but still no image is showing. All four images still exist in my zMud directory and nothing has been changed in the triggers. Images are as such: repop.jpg, mob.jpg .. etc
Trigger command:
#IM repop.jpg
I've tried setting full file path to zmud folder.. no difference.. tried case sensitive filename, enclosing them in brackets, no difference.. even typing a invalid filename for image brings up the identical window.
What would cause this, and how do I fix it? It will now not display any image.. this is very frustrating on top of other problems I am having. |

The default path for #IMAGE is your current working directory, which is your zMUD installation directory by default. If the image isn't found, the window comes up empty like that (even though I think an error message would be more appropriate). Verify your working directory and the path to the image. If you have it in a sub-directory, try something like this:
| Code: |
| #IMAGE {mydir/image.gif} |
That syntax works for me. |

When I try:
#IM ThisImageDoesNotExit.txt
I get that window.
When I specify one in my zmud directory it works. (current folder set to zmud folder) |

Yes, I have five JPG images in my zMud directory.
Exact path for one jpg image for instance is:
C:\Program Files\zMud\repop.jpg
The normal command I have used for a few weeks, with success, is:
#IM repop.jpg
I have tried also:
#IM C:\program files\zmud\repop.jpg
Same blank window.
It is what i find strange. I have not touched the files nor the trigger the #IM command is in. Yet image window suddenly ceased to work.
I know it can't be simple syntax error because image window worked for me before for weeks. What other reasons could make it stop working? What could I do to try to fix? |

Try #LOG Whereisthisfile.txt;#LOG
Go find that file.
// I've seen it where the default directory gets confused.
If it is not in c:\program files\zmud try
settings->export
choose all
and export to c:\program files\zmud
Then try and do your #IM |

I did the command, it puts the file in the subdirectory for my mud, rather than the zMud directory. I copied all images to that subdirectory and #IM now works again. Very strange, why it changes all of a sudden.
Thank you for the suggestion! |

*sigh*
Back to square one again... it worked a few times yesterday when I tried it, but today yet again, i'm getting that stupid shrunken #IMAGE window.
Any other ideas ?
I now have copies of all my jpg files in both zmud diretory and my mud directory.. |

Check whatever shortcut you use to launch zMud and make sure the "Working Directory" is set to zMud's folder.
Another program may be changing the working directory as well. Using #LAUNCH you should be able to correct this. Either #LAUNCH "cd C:\Program Files\zMud" or #LAUNCH "cmd.exe /c C:\Program Files\zMud" should work. |

My shortcut is directly to C:\Program Files\zMud\Zmud.exe, I have it pinned onto start menu for easy access.
At the moment the image window is working again.... It started out working this morning, then quit, then started up all of a sudden. It changed while I had zMud open I think too. It is very strange and I can't tell what makes it work some and not other times. I have not tried the #LAUNCH yet. I will next time it happens. |

Ok, it is again not working. I tried the #LAUNCH command, copied and pasted to the zMud prompt. Nothing happened when I typed either of them, but the second one opened the cmd.exe window for a moment.
After typing both, I tried the #IM from the prompt. Window is still shrunk, with nothing displaying. I also tried opening zMud from command prompt, but that made no difference either.
Why does it work sometimes and not others. It makes no sense. What else could be causing this? |

What else are you doing to change paths in zMud?
#LOG Whereisthistwo.txt;#LOG
Are you exporting? Saving as? #LOG directory/directory/file.txt?
One of those is changing zMud's search spot for your images. |

Ok strange, I just did #LOG again and then could not find the file anywhere in the zMud folder. I opened search and this time it was in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Katie (my xp user folder)
Yes this seems to be the problem, but...
I should not have any commands or scripts that should be exporting, or logging. Saving as, though, I did save my map file many times lately but it was always to my Mud subfolder. To my knowledge that is all. I don't use any outside scripts except some simple quest reporter.
Is there a way I can find out what is causing this. I exported and searched through all my aliases and triggers but there is no save/log/export in them. I don't understand why I can't just use the path C:\program files\zmud\doubles.jpg in the command and have it work without the files needing to be in the directory zmud is set to. That should be added as a feature. |
