A time-based trigger. Not quite an alarm, but sort of?

I want to do something that seems very basic, but I can't figure it out. How would I write a script using alarms/triggers such that if one of my friends enters the room at 2:00 real life, then it says "Good afternoon ___", but if it is 6:00, then "Good evening ___"?

And can I do this for a range of times? Say between 2:00 & 5:59?

Use the %case and %time functions in your response.

Okay. I see how those would be useful. But how would I get a range of times using the time command? Or could I?

Would I have to use %case() ad nauseam?

And with those in mind, how could I trigger it such that "____ has entered the game." gets set to a variable to be print out "Good time soandso"?

Sigh. I'm not a programmer. I just wanted to have a neat script thingy. *scratches head*
