Creating Gauges!

I know this is prob a simple thing to do but i am having problems in getting my health and mana gauges to work. I would appreciate it very much if anyone could tell me how to set these up and give me an idea on setting up othar gauges that i might need in the future. I dont know if it will help but i am playing firstage (avalon).

Gauges are a type of button. The easy way to make them is using the Settings Editor. Click Buttons on the toolbar, then New after the Editor opens. Fill in a Caption and set the Kind to Gauge. Go to the Gauge tab (last on right) and fill in Value, Gauge Max, and Gauge Low. Select colors at the bottom of the Gauge Tab. Save.

For a health gauge, Value is usually @hp and Gauge Max is usually either @hpmax or @maxhp. Gauge Low is usually a formula, such as @maxhp/4. Colors can be anything you like, except that black is actually transparent...the gauge bar will be invisible.

Some optional items you might want to use are Bitmap File on the Advanced tab and of course, Location and Size controls on the Location/Size tab.

You also need to use #SETPROMPT or #TRIGGER so you have your health and mana in the variables you're using.

suppose your prompt looks likes this:

<438/438hp 572/572mana 330/330mv>
*^***^*****^***^*******^***^
*|***|*****|***|*******|***'-mv2(max move)
*|***|*****|***|*******'-mv1(current move)]
*|***|*****|***'-mana2(maximum mana)
*|***|*****'-mana1(current mana)
*|***'-hp2(maximum hp)
*'-hp1(current hp)

go to View, Preferences, Mud Prompt then set the fields to:

Text that the mud prompt starts with: <

then list the variables according to how they
appear in the prompt:

hp1
hp2
mana1
mana2
move1
move2

click ok, after this your variables will be updated
everytime you receive the mud prompt, use this variables
to set your gauges.

[Button State] (for hp bar)
button kind: gauge
caption : hp

[Gauge]
value : @hp1
gauge max : @hp2

set all additional things like width, height, color
etc then do the same to the mana and move. then set
the position/size dialog set the location panel to bottom
so its near the input command bar for easy monitoring.
Very Happy
