Capture Windows |
I just upgraded to Zmud 6.61 and saved my window layout/locked it. The next time I opened Zmud, every single one of my capture windows had a command line, and status bar as if they were actual mud windows. No matter what I do, they keep coming back like this. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Besides saving your window layout, you need to change the settings and then save them for each window so that they will reload without those extras. You can save a window's settings through Settings, Save.
Just make the changes and do that for every window.

Each window wants to save as its own .MUD file -- is that normal? As I understood it, each of these capture windows should be a part of my normal .MUD file.
Also, the program itself loads differently. What used to load as one single window now loads as two seperate windows, one main window, and an inch or so above a seperate window with all of the capture windows loading there. |

I'm having the same problem myself, however it started when I upgraded to 6,56 if that helps. I have tried any way I could think off to get rid of it but it just come back so everytime I start zmud I need so start with removing status/command line on 2 different capture windows.

Yes, each window will have its own .mud file. As for loading differently, make sure that Layout|Lock Layout is not selected and proceed to dock the windows how you want it. Lock the layout and then save it. Save the settings for each window too.
nimrod, do what Charabal said. Save the settings for each window. Make sure each one is selected and click on Settings|Save. If necessary, make sure that the .mud file has the same name as the window.

I did try this, but it didn't fix anything. It almost seems to recognise each capture window as an actual mud window instead of a capture window, its strange... Having its own .mud file didn't help, though, they keep coming back with status windows and input bars. Like I said it loads in two seperate windows now instead of just the one, which again makes it seem like its somehow detatched from the main window... I dont know.
I should add that if I remove the windows, and receive a tell/message on another channel that I capture, the window pops up as it should, without the status bar or command line, its just when I start zmud up that it screws up. |

I can't picture what you say about the two separate windows. It seems as if the main MUD window become undocked from the toolbar at the top.
As for the command line and stuff in child window, I can't get it to fail. It works for me every time by saving the settings of each window. Make sure that each settings file has the same name as the window, though. And yes, even though they are child windows, they all still have their own .mud file.

When you save the settings for the different child windows, zMud defaults to trying to save them in the zMud directory, but when you open a particular mud, it looks in that mud's directory for the settings file to open them....
So: Make sure you're saving them with the same name as the window, and in the proper location! |

Just thought I'd let anyone who was interested to know I found out how to fix this -- delete the .lay (layout) file. It gives me an error when I open my mud window about the missing file, but you click ok and it loads up properly and doesn't require .mud files for any of the capture windows, and they're all docked properly and such. Not sure if theres a way to get rid of the error message without screwing up my layout again, though. If I click save layout, it goes back to docking them weirdly and adding input bars.

Select the character, but instead of connecting to the MUD click the Edit button. Go to the Files tab. Delete the filename (if any) for Layout and uncheck Use Layout.
