Mapper won't draw rooms

I can't get the mapper to draw any rooms. When I reconfigure, the description and exits are identified correctly. At the risk of giving too much information, I'll try not to give too little. I'm on Discworld MUD. Here's a sample:

This is the main living area of the small but lavishly furnished house that you have so rudely entered. The place looks well lived in, probably by a small family judging from the picture that hangs above the fireplace. You can see a kitchen to the north, while in the corner, a spiral staircase winds its way up through a hole in the roof.
There are three obvious exits: up, north and south.

The prompt is a simple '>'.

Here's my prompt tag:
#TRIGGER {^~>} {#TAG prompt}

Here's my exits tag:
#TRIGGER {^There {is|are} %w obvious exit{:|s:} (*).} {#TAG exit %1 }

The room name only outputs in brief mode, and brief mode doesn't output the description; to keep things simple I'm going without the room name for now.

I don't have a tag for the description. I've tried a couple, with no success, and I suspect that since it's a multiple line description I can't tag it with a trigger, which seem to deal only with one line at a time. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that.

I have various #NOMAP triggers

My Manual Configuration settings:

Room Name Configuration - Room Name is not checked, Parse vNum in Name is checked and Match Room Name is checked (if I uncheck these and reconfigure they are checked again by the application), Name Paragraph and Name Start Line both set to 0.

Room Description Configuration - Room Description is checked, Multiline Description is checked, Description Paragraph is set to 0, Description Start Line is set to 0.

Room Exits Configuration - Room Exits is checked, Exits Paragraph is set to 0, Exits Start Line is set to 3 (these values also come from the application upon reconfiguring), Exits contains key and Exits after keyword are unchecked (I check them before reconfiguring, these boxes are checked byt the application), my Exit line keyword is "obvious exit" (without the quotes).

MUD Prompt Configuration - Before reconfiguring I check Auto Prompt detect and Allow string> prompts, but reconfiguring unchecks Auto Prompt detect and checks Complex prompt. I enter ">" (without quotes) in the Prompt char box, reconfiguring clears this entry.

I've tried innumerable combinations in the Manual Configuration dialog; the starting choices shown above allow me to reconfigure and get the green text (description) and the red text (exits) properly identified. No room or links are subsequently drawn however.

This is driving me crazy, please help.

Edit: version 6.40

Please forgive me if the question is stupid, but are you in Map mode.

That's not a stupid question. Would have been a stupid mistake on my part, to be sure. =) But I have indeed been in Map Creation mode.

Make sure you have the "Prompt" option turned on and the "Newline" option turned off for your prompt trigger. Based on your trigger above, you have 'Newline' on, and 'Prompt' off. This will cause the situation you are seeing.

I did have the "Prompt" and "Newline" options checked incorrectly. When I changed them, though, it didn't fix the problem. Interestingly, after reconfiguring again, I found, by clicking the "Edit/Properies" menu item, that new map database records could be created, but nothing was being drawn on the map. I should make clear that I couldn't manually place a room on the map, either.

I decided to try deleting the .mdb file and starting over. I closed the Mapper, deleted the .mdb, and reopened the Mapper. The new .mdb inherited configuration settings from the deleted file, leading me to assume that those settings are also stored eslewhere (or only stored elsewhere). Thinking that a complete reinstallation of Zmud might be the way to go, I tried to fiddle with various things again in a last-ditch effort. I clicked the "File/New" menu item. One immediately apparent result: The map grid, never visible before even if the option was checked in the configuration settings, appeared. Full of hope with this new development, I went through the reconfiguration process again. No improvement. Then I reconfigured again, using the offline option.

Voila, a room appeared, and changing rooms created another.

I can't establish a clear causal relationship between my efforts detailed above and the result, but I relate them in case they offer some help to anyone else. Now to fine tune the mapper, getting Name and description to work properly.
