cant get this to work

I've been working on a trigger to update my ammount of money on a status bar when i view my money screen.
when i press $ it comes up with:
You have a total of [4,204,939] gp in 3 accounts, with [88,284] gp on hand.
I only want the ammount of money on hand to show up on the status bar, but i havent been able to get it to work because of the brackets. If you could give me any help it would be greatly appreciated.
