Are you talking about zMUD or is this MUD-specific?

wells its neither really, i know of several muds that allow you to use these codes with there verbs, they colorize the text so that others can see it and not just you, but i cant seem to find anything about it anywhere (i tried google) so i posted here in the hopes that some other mudder might have experiance with them

lots of muds have color codes like the ones you describe. A popular one was written by Lopes and used like this
{Rbright red {rlow red{xclear
this isn't really a zmud issue, best advice is to read helpfiles on the mud in question "help color", "help colour", and "help ansi" would be good places to start. If that fails, contact one of the administrators of the mud and ask if the mud supports player defined ansi colors.
