Question on mapper database |
I have a question on the mapper.
I ran across the command roomload in the help files and it made me think about this.
If I open the map database and blank out room descriptions that I think are bad - created before I got the automapper to ignore some room information. Will just blanking these description out result in the automapper refreshing the description the next time I walk through that room with the mapper on? Or, do I need to explicitly use this roomload function for each room I blanked out.
The other question I have has to do with creating rooms offline via keyboard creation. If I create a bunch of rooms this way and leave the room names and room descriptions blank, will these fields get populated automatically the next time I walk through the that room with the mapper on.
And last question, what would happen if the room I created offline is missing a direction or has a exit that should not be there. What will the mapper do when I walk into this room. Will it 1) create a new room overlapping my room, 2) add the missing exit links and populate room name and descriptions, 3) Remove the incorrect link.

All of these may tested very quickly to find out the answer. From previous experience, I believe that in the first two cases the rooms are not updated, but they are in the third case. I may be wrong, however, so check to make sure.

This does pose a great new feature request for the mapper (read: please don't put it in zMapper only.. ;) ).
Offline map creation would be a lot nicer if we could use our mud logs to do it. Somehow scroll through the log one room at a time and have zMud create the rooms manually. You could still switch between map/follow modes, but the directionals and such would could from the mud. Just add a step forward and step back command for going slowly and retracing steps.
Hrm...
