zmud 6,40 mapper speed and 1 other prob

Hi, i have been using Zmud for some considerable time and one of its best features is the mapper. I was therefore greatly looking forward to the new public version 6.40.

Once i had d/l it and converted my maps, i started to play. Unfortunately the mapper seems to take about 10 times longer to move from one zone to another compared to version 6.16. In some cases it can take 10 secs to load a zone in (where prviously it would have been only 1 sec). This basically means that i have had to revert back to the older version :( I am using an Athlon 650, which may not be the fastest comp off the block, but should cope with Zmud.

One other VERY annoying point with version 6.40 is when i am typing long sentances and it wraps onto another line, in the mud window it tells me that "the screen size has been changed to xxx", and then once i press enter it tells me once again that "the screen size has changed to zzzz" I have not been able to stop it from doing this

Please advise cos i would really like to use the new version, it looks great

To prevent the screen resize messages, disable the "Send window resize (NAWS)" option in General->Emulation in the Preferences.

The speed of the mapper may be compromised by some files in your computer. Check the recent posts on this forum (one is sticky) for more information.

Thanks for the reply, the screen resize messages are now fixed.

The map speed is not cos im a Win XP user:(
Im still having a lot of problems with the speed of the maps when changing zones (my zones rarely have more then 1000 room in)

Even if you are using XP, check to make sure you are using updated versions of MDAC and the Jet drivers.

ok, checked the driver files as suggested for the other Os's

Im using version 2.71 for both files, so that does not seem to be the problem

Check the Jet drivers too. I'm not quite sure on what file you need to check the version for the Jet drivers, but I do know that they are also the cause of slowness sometimes.
