Yes a trigger can fire only once. Look into the #T- and #T+ commands.

Not sure if something like this is possible, but couldn't you make an #ONINPUT trigger so that whenever something is typed, it appends the #SENDPROMPT command to the command???

Though I feel your pain, it has not been my experience with Win XP. I too have installed it on 5 computers now (some 2 years old) and haven't had a glitch. Only solid, clean installs.
